include("textmenu.asp") ?>General: The 1987 National Medical Expenditure Survey (NMES) is a three-part national survey of the U.S. civilian non-institutionalized population, American Indians, Alaska natives, and residents of institutions and facilities for the mentally retarded. NMES uses information reported for the U.S. non-institutionalized population, including patient demography, medical condition information, and use and expenditures for prescribed medicines, inpatient hospital stays and associated physician expenses, home health care and medical equipment purchases and rentals. Various subsets are available.
