Provider of Services File

A by-product of the Medicare/Medicaid Automated Certification System (MMACS), these data identify with provider number, name, and address and characterize the participating institutional providers. The data are collected through HCFA regional offices. The file contains an individual record for each Medicare-approved provider. The input MMACS file is updated daily based on yearly, or as-scheduled, survey information. (Month ending files for the latest three year period are made available by HCFA.)
