
MTPPI regularly uses a wide range of databases from multiple data sources, including administrative billing records and primary data collection efforts. The most important sources are listed below, organized by type of data. Most data arrives in 3480 Tape Cartridge format, is processed through MTPPI's minicomputer systems and is stored on high density DAT cartridges for future use. Select a database listed below for more information about that data.
Administrative data
usually results from insurance records or program
enrollments, thus it includes records of procedures and
provision of service. These data are usually intended to

| Survey
data is gathered on samples and extrapolated to
draw policy conclusions. Survey data usually consists of
information about individual patients and summary
information on their medical status or past provision of
service.
